Humboldt General Lunchtime Seminar Will Focus on 'Summertime Skin Safety'

Did you know that each year there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lunch and colon?

That’s according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. In fact, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer over the course of their lifetime. But that’s not all: one person dies of melanoma skin cancer every hour.

That’s the bad news; the good news is there are some very simple and effective things that can prevent the skin damage that leads to skin cancer.

From noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 13, Miss Elko County Nevada, Macie Mavity, will present “Summertime Skin Safety” in the Sonoma Conference Room at Humboldt General Hospital.

Macie will not only discuss what participants can do to protect their skin, but also what skin cancer warning signs they should also be watching for.

The “Summertime Skin Safety” seminar is free of charge; all ages are welcome, and lunch will be served.

For more information, please contact HGH Wellness Coordinator Billie Lucero at (775) 623-5222, ext. 1294, or email at lucerob@hghospital.org.
