We have some serious bragging to do. Remember how we mentioned the "Cribs for Kids" training that EMS was going to host last Thursday, August 7? Well, we hit that one out of the park. Here's a refresher: The "Cribs for Kids" program seeks to identify agencies that are willing to help promote safe sleep education and practices. Partnering agencies receive Safe Sleep Survival Kits, which include a Graco Pack N Play, crib sheet, Halo Sleep Pack and pacifier, for distribution to community residents. In Clark and Washoe counties, one person signed up to participate. In Humboldt County? EIGHT! We aren't surprised. We live in such a caring place, with so many people who are willing to do whatever it takes to protect our youth--and our babies. The program sponsors were so blown away by our local response to the program that they said EMS should head up a coalition and really begin reaching out to drive down our infant mortality rates. We're all for that. Kudos to Deb Whittaker for taking on this project and for showing the rest of Nevada how it should be done!
