Harmony Manor Skilled Nursing Facility has been named one of America's
Best Nursing Homes for women.
Humboldt General Hospital's long-term care facility recently learned
that it received the
Women's Choice Award® from WomenCertified® distinguishing it
as one of the 2013 America's Best Nursing Homes for Patient Experience.
This award designation is based on robust criteria that include female
patient satisfaction measurements as well as clinical excellence considerations.
"Our Harmony Manor family is dedicated to creating a home for our
patients where exceptional care, dignity and compassion are our uncompromising
standard," said Humboldt General Hospital CEO/Administrator Jim Parrish.
"We are honored to be a 2013 Best Nursing Homes award recipient."
WomenCertified® is a marketing research firm and the home of the Women's Choice Award,
The Voice of Women. The Women's Choice Award is the first national
award based on the recommendations and preferences of women.
Awards are based on surveys of thousands of women, as well as research
conducted in partnership with the
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania on what drives the consumer experience for women versus men.
Delia Passi, CEO and Founder of WomenCertified said, "We are proud
of Harmony Manor Skilled Nursing Facility for taking ownership of their
patient experience and creating an environment that offers the best in
long term healthcare services."
Passi continued, "As the average lifespan increases and larger numbers
of older adults require care, a family's decision can be made easier
by knowing the facilities that other women highly recommend."
Passi said nursing homes qualify for this highly selective annual list
based on an objective proprietary scoring process. The selection process
begins with the 5 star rating system from the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services rating three major elements: health inspections, nurse
staffing, and quality of care.
Weighting is then applied that reflects women's preferences and priorities.
In addition, any facility with serious deficiency reports is eliminated
According to Harmony Manor Nurse Manager Robin Gillis, "Our goal has
always been to be a five star facility because those five stars indicate
that we are providing the best quality of life that we can for our residents."
She added, "We strive to be survey ready on any given day. We always
want to be caring for our residents at that level."
Parrish said the entire Harmony Manor operation, from nurses to nurses'
aides, housekeeping and dietary staff and the activities staff, is focused
on making residents' stays as pleasant and rewarding as possible.
He continued, "This isn't about simply providing housing and medical
care for people; it's about providing a quality of life that engages
residents and helps them continue to grow and enjoy life while safeguarding
their health, dignity and privacy."
Parrish added, "This rewarding environment is especially meaningful
to women who have singled out Harmony Manor as one of the nation's
best nursing homes."
Gillis, who has supervised the facility for over six years, said she is
deeply appreciative for what's happening at Harmony Manor—success
that she wholeheartedly attributes to her staff.
"I am most proud of the staff that we have. It just takes a certain
individual to work with geriatrics," she said. "My staff is
here because they want to be; they truly care about the residents. I can
see it in every one of them."
As a five-star CMS facility, Harmony Manor offers 24-hour nursing care
and immediate access to primary, specialty and emergency physician care,
on-site physical and occupational therapy, on-site licensed social worker,
a full slate of in-house and off-campus activities, full nutrition services,
faith services, access to grooming resources that help residents maintain
their preferred personal appearance, a warm and caring relationship with
the facility's staff family, and more.
