Congratulations Pharmacy Dave
Our very own Pharmacy Dave recently celebrated 20 years as a volunteer officer with the Winnemucca Police Department. Last week, he was honored during a Winnemucca City Council meeting with the Distinguished Volunteer Service Cross and a beautiful letter of commendation from Winnemucca Police Chief Eric Silva. In the letter, Chief Silva noted that "on the 12th day of February 1983, a pharmacist made a decision that would affect not only his life, but the lives of many within his community. For it was on that date that this Winnemucca resident decided to no longer watch the problems of the world pass by, but instead made the conscious decision to deliberately place himself in harm's way and try to solve some of those problems. It was on that date that David Simsek volunteered for service as a Reserve Police Officer.” Chief Silva went on to say that it wasn't Dave's nature to simply ride along with other officers. Instead, Dave has sought every training opportunity available to him including Death Investigation, Emergency Vehicle Operation, Domestic Violence Investigation, Basic SWAT School, Tactical Medic School and National Certified Emergency Medical Technician. His most recent accomplishment was becoming one of the first Reserve Officers in the Department's SWAT Tactical Medics Program. Dave's pharmacy background has also allowed him to assist investigators in furthering many drug cases. The Winnemucca Police Department Distinguished Volunteer Service Cross is awarded for outstanding volunteer service provided by Reserve members who improve the department and its services to the community. Dave is certainly deserving; we could say he does the same thing at Humboldt General Hospital. He is all about improving his department and the services it offers to our community members. Congrats, Pharmacy Dave. We're so proud of you.
