Yesterday, we got an up-close and personal look at the first phase of the New Patient Wing. It was, in a word, AWESOME. Everything is beautiful and perfect for patient care, right down to the very last details: the fold-out computers in every room, the patient call system, the ICU monitors and, of course, the headwalls. The headwall is essentially the head of the bed. It's covered with all sorts of plug-ins and ports to take care of patients, and ours were designed specifically by HGH nursing leadership. In fact, so much of what is in that wing and in those rooms was the result of our nursing leaders doing their homework, making about a billion decisions and then receiving the necessary backup from administration. This Thursday, we're going to show off the new area to a few local dignitaries and the artists whose photos grace the walls. They'll be impressed; we know they will . . . because we certainly are.
