Saying Goodbye to Marie

Marie Thompson will be moving to Reno soon. What a loss for Winnemucca. Marie is a founding member of the Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary, one of the original "Pink Ladies" and a true original herself. She was the force behind the Auxiliary's nursing scholarship program, which has helped fund the education of dozens of nursing professionals. She also can be thanked for helping to launch the Poke & Peek Thrift Shop, from very humble beginnings as a hospital "yard sale." The Auxiliary, under Marie's leadership and guidance, has grown into one of Humboldt County's and Nevada's most respected volunteer organizations. And Marie, with thousands (literally) of volunteer hours, has been at the helm. Not only that, but she is one of the most genuinely kind, intelligent and outgoing people we know. She was feted at the Auxiliary's annual dinner last week, but we wanted to take a little space here to give her our own thanks . . . and goodbyes. You've been a great friend to HGH, Marie. God bless.

P.S. Marie is shown at left in the the photo with Kathryn Hoxsey, another of our amazing volunteers.
