It's not very often that we get to do something just to celebrate life. In fact, most of the time, we're in a struggle to protect life, preserve it, guard it. But we hardly ever take time to simply celebrate. Well, we sure took that time Saturday as HGH partnered with the Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the first annual "Color the Mucc" fun run. We kicked off at the Winnemucca Community Garden before making our way (via a 3K or 5K) to Vesco City Park. And all along the way were color bomb stations, where people got seriously doused with a rainbow of hues. (You can still see some of the evidence on our city streets.) Once people got to the park, there was music, snacks, photos and just a general sea of smiles amid some very colorful faces. We really did have a blast. It was so fun working with our community to produce this; it was even more fun to welcome more than 300 participants to the party! If you weren't there this year, come next year. The color washes off with a shower, but in the meantime, it's just a fantastic way to celebrate being alive!
