Rose Brooks is the newest member of the hospital's Patient Access team.
Humboldt General Hospital launched the Patient Access Department in November
2012 with the goal of helping patients navigate a healthcare system that
can sometimes seem overwhelmingly complex.
The department provides estimated treatment costs, checks insurance coverage,
provides Medicare and Medicaid information and assistance, reviews qualifying
funding programs, provides application help, reviews current accounts
and sets up payment plans.
"Our job is to advocate for patients at Humboldt General Hospital,"
said Brooks. "We are here as a resource for them."
Brooks previously worked in the hospital's Medical Records Department.
Co-workers there said she was a valuable asset and a model in customer service.
"Those same skills are what will make her a great addition to Patient
Access," said Administrative Director Pam Wickkiser. "We are
all about customer service, about helping our patients access the help
and the information they need, so Rose was a great fit from the beginning."
Brooks is originally from California. She began working for HGH in early
2013. Brooks said she enjoys interacting with patients and is looking
forward to becoming a great asset to the Patient Access team.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, camping, skiing, and "just
about anything outdoors or indoors as long as it's with my family."
