Plant-A-Row for the Hungry

Tuesday, March 11, Humboldt General Hospital was able to donate money toward a very special and worthwhile project in our community. Kimberly Madrid, an AmeriCorps volunteer and the Community Garden Coordinator, received a check for $1,000 to begin installing raised garden beds and readying them for planting as part of the Plant-A-Row for the Hungry Improvement Project. This project will help our community by increasing produce donated to the local food bank, thereby providing food for those in need. We asked Kimberly about the project and she noted that she is in dire need of volunteers . . . so we volunteered our HGH and EMS staff members to help! And we'd love to have you join us as we begin to turn that money into food from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Winnemucca Community Garden. Bring work gloves, shovels and a wheelbarrow, if you can. HGH will provide the lunch. The more people we have, the quicker this project will be up and running and the better able the garden will be able to help our needy residents. Even better, gather your office or company staff! We'll all work together!
