2014 Nightingale Nurse of the Year
Did you hear the news? Michelle Chadwell has been named the 2014 Humboldt General Hospital Nightingale Nurse of the Year. Michelle was one of four ladies vying for the award. Her co-nominees included Echo Mathews, Mary Schlotzhauer and Jennifer Fernandez, and each would have brought honor and integrity to the award for their dedication to professional nursing at HGH. Michelle's nominator shared some special traits about our 2014 Nightingale including Michelle's friendly approach to problem solving, her willingness to help her co-workers in any situation, her positive and well-intentioned feedback while continuing to focus on team-building, and her "open door" policy. The nominator wrote: "Michelle demonstrates strong leadership skills, and the strong character needed to be an excellent nurse." Michelle was presented with a plaque and some beautiful flowers by HGH CEO/Administrator Jim Parrish during a luncheon for all nursing staff last Friday. Jim also presented Michelle with a $3,000 educational stipend. We will be proud to add her name to the board of past recipients of this prestigious award, which now includes Diane Nevis, Pam Ruark and Robyn Dunckhorst. Congratulations!
