Humboldt General Hospital EMS Rescue is asking local residents to help
stuff an ambulance full of toys.
The “Stuff an Ambulance Toy Drive” will officially kick off
this Saturday, December 5, as crews ask shoppers to donate a new, unwrapped
toy; the ambulance will be parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot near the
The ambulance will continue to accept toys until “the rig is absolutely
stuffed to the roof with toys,” according to HGH EMS Rescue Chief
The toys will then be distributed to organizations who serve needy children
throughout Humboldt County.
Songer said residents can drop a toy by the ambulance station, located
next to Humboldt General Hospital, at any time.
“We know this is a time of great excitement and happiness for many,”
he said, “but for others, it is a time of great anxiety and sorrow,
and we want to make sure that we can bring some holiday cheer to everyone
The Stuff an Ambulance Toy Drive is being coordinated by HGH EMS Rescue
Community Outreach Coordinator Fergus Laughridge.
Laughridge said crews were excited to help organize the drive for area
organizations and agencies that serve the children of Humboldt County.
“We see kids in a lot of different situations—tough situations,”
he said. “This is one way that we can provide a different kind of
help to bring joy and holiday cheer to some local homes.”
