Monday, July 6, the Family Medicine Residency Clinic opens to patients
at Humboldt General Hospital.
The clinic is the culmination of a long collaboration between HGH and the
University of Nevada School of Medicine. With the opening, Winnemucca
becomes the first rural family medicine residency site in Nevada.
Dr. Samaan Sattarzadeh is HGH’s new Resident Physician. Dr. Sattarzadeh
completed medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine
before being accepted into the school’s Family Medicine Residency.
He completed the first year of his specialization in Family Medicine in
Las Vegas and will complete years two and three in Winnemucca. He is employed
by the School of Medicine but will see patients at the Humboldt General
Hospital Family Medicine Residency Clinic.
Resident Physicians can examine patients and write up histories, physical
assessments and plans. They can write orders for tests, prescribe medicine,
assist in the Operating Room, deliver babies and more.
While Dr. Sattarzadeh is the first Resident Physician in the new landmark
program, in 2016 HGH will welcome two more Resident Physicians. By 2017,
the hospital will have four on site.
The Family Medicine Residency Clinic will offer the same well-known personal
care patients have come to expect from HGH, with the convenience of appointment
and/or walk-in visits. Care is available from pre-natal through end of life.
The clinic is located upstairs in Suite E of Humboldt General Hospital’s
medical office building. Call (775) 623-3554 for more information or to
schedule an appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Wednesday.
