Area residents are invited to take their emergency training to a professional
level starting this month.
Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services Rescue will host a
nationally certified EMT Course from August 22 through December 23.
According to American Heart Association CPR Training Center Administrator
Sean Burke, the course is directed at those who would like to become an
Emergency Medical Technician.
“This will give them the classroom instruction and the labs they
will need to achieve that goal,” said Burke.
Participants will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays
at the ambulance station located adjacent to Humboldt General Hospital
in Winnemucca. Some Saturday instruction will also take place.
Burke said much of the instruction will focus on basic medical concepts,
terminology and skills at the EMT level. Some of the course topics will
include bleeding, splitting of fractures, managing airway obstruction,
managing cardiac arrest and more.
Cost for the instruction is $1,000, which includes all books and instruction.
Application is mandatory prior to the start of classes.
Please call HGH EMS at (775) 623-5222, ext. 1378 for application or for
