We are writing regarding the article “Orthopedic doctor travels northern
Nevada,” which appeared on the front page of the Saturday, July
23, issue of The Humboldt Sun newspaper.
The article highlights traveling physician Jim Pappas, who sees patients
in Winnemucca and then takes his and their business to Reno for surgery.
As Winnemucca’s hometown providers, we want to extend an invitation
to residents in need of orthopedic services to visit with us and see what
we have to offer—here locally.
Dr. Pappas notes his experience is limited to arthroscopy of the knee and
shoulder; in contrast, we too offer knee and shoulder arthroscopic procedures,
but we also offer total hip and total knee joint replacement, fracture
care, general orthopedic procedures like carpal tunnel release, trigger
finger release, rotator cuff repair, and much more—24 hours a day,
seven days a week.
Dr. Pappas notes he is willing to travel “600 miles” to provide
health care to Winnemucca and its sister communities on a limited basis.
He then asks his patients, who are in pain or difficult circumstances,
to travel as well in order to access care. The point we wish to make is
that patients no longer need to travel to Reno for quality orthopedics.
In most cases, our surgical patients are out of the hospital within 24
hours and resting comfortably at home within minutes. They are also within
minutes of our office for pre-op work and post-op follow-up.
We want to thank our patients in Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Lovelock
and surrounding areas for trusting us with their care and their friendship.
We enjoy our time here personally. Professionally, it has been very rewarding
to offer a full slate of orthopedic services to this community around
Together as physicians, we have over 100 years of orthopedic experience.
That represents thousands and thousands of hours of office visits, surgeries,
follow-up care and continuing education. Please contact us at the HGH
Orthopedic Clinic if we can help you or provide more information. Thank you.
