Local emergency personnel will host a community celebration in honor of
National EMS Week.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, which is scheduled for May 15-21,
honors the lifesaving care that EMS providers offer nationwide, 24 hours
a day, seven days a week.
Locally, Humboldt General Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services Rescue
department will mark the week by hosting an “EMS Open House”
at the ambulance station.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, community residents are invited
to stop by for free hot dogs, free goodies, and tours of the station and
emergency vehicles. Emergency personnel will offer free blood pressure
checks and training for compression only CPR.
Additionally, fingerprint kits for children will be available at no charge.
Nationally, EMS Week is sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) and Health Resources and Services Administration
(HRSA). This year’s theme is “Called to Care.” Locally,
EMS Week celebrations are sponsored by Humboldt General Hospital.
