Winnemucca, get ready for some colorful fun!
The fifth annual “Color the Mucc” Fun Run returns on Saturday,
April 22, in celebration of “Earth Day.”
The 3K/5K fun run will begin at 10 a.m. at the Winnemucca Community Garden
and make its way to the finish line at Vesco City Park. Pre-registration
begins at 9 a.m.
Following the race, participants are invited to take part in the Winnemucca
Domestic Violence Services “Party in the Park,” scheduled
for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vesco City Park. The “Party in the Park”
will include bounce houses, concessions, games, informational booths and more.
“Color the Mucc,” which is sponsored by the Humboldt County
Chamber of Commerce and Humboldt General Hospital, has no winners and
no official times.
Instead, the color run simply celebrates wellness, happiness and individuality
as hundreds of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors
at each kilometer.
New this year, organizers are encouraging businesses and groups to form
teams. The largest pre-registered team will be honored with a revolving
trophy they can keep until the 2018 event; the most spirited team will
receive a $100 Chamber Check to share with the nonprofit organization
of their choice.
Participants are encouraged to wear white to take advantage of the colorful
effect. Costumes are optional, and sunglasses or goggles are also recommended.
Register online at
www.humboldtcountychamber.com, or stop by the Chamber office located at 30 W. Winnemucca Boulevard.
Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for kids ages 6-12; kids 0-5 get in free.
Cost for team members is $20 each, and special family pricing for mom,
dad and the kids is $50. A t-shirt, backpack and lots of goodies are included
for each registrant age 6 and up.
Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debbie Stone said
the “just-for-fun” race offers a great opportunity for the
community to gather following the cold winter.
Proceeds from this year’s event will also fund several scholarships
at Lowry High School for students interested in entering the business field.
“So we’re looking forward to gathering our community for fun,
fitness and family,” she said, “but we are also looking forward
to making this investment in our students’ education.”
Contact the Chamber office at (775) 623-2225 for more information.
Kids and families are welcome to participate, but no pets, please.
