The entrance to the HGH Emergency Department will move northwest approximately
50 yards for the next few weeks.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, December 11, all ER patients will use the ramp
entrance on Mizpah Street to access Emergency Department services. The
temporary change will also apply to patients who need to check in after
regular business hours, as well as any after-hours visitors.
The ramp entrance is located between the current ER entrance and the hospital’s
new parking garage. Residents are encouraged to identify the temporary
entrance in case of emergency; beginning Monday morning, signage will
also direct patients to the temporary entry point.
According to HGH Emergency Services Manager Robyn Dunckhorst, construction
crews are nearing the end of a months-long expansion and remodel of the
Emergency Department.
“This is the final phase before project’s end,” she said,
noting that the temporary entrance will likely last for several weeks
before the entire department is ready for occupancy.
“We realize this is an inconvenience for our patients, but we promise
the end result will be worth it,” she said. “Our new department
is truly a 21st century emergency care facility.”
Dunckhorst said the public will be notified when construction crews are
finished and the ER reverts to its permanent entrance.
