After three years and hundreds of successful cases, hospital officials
have declared their newest service line a success.
The Humboldt General Hospital Orthopedic Clinic opened its doors in January
2015 in partnership with Synergy Surgicalists Inc.
Tuesday, December 19, Humboldt County Hospital District Trustees approved
a second three-year contract with the group for orthopedic services through
Three orthopedists, including Dr. Lud Kroner, Dr. Curtiss Mull and Dr.
Richard Davis, provide 24-hour, seven-day-a-week care at the hospital.
Together, the three bring over 100 years of seasoned experienced in the
diagnosis, treatment and surgical care of the body’s bones, joints,
tendons, ligaments and nerves.
Not only do the specialists provide emergency fracture care, but they also
treat local residents’ sports injuries, chronic degenerative conditions
such as rotator cuff tears, or extremity reconstructions such as carpal
tunnel, tennis elbow or meniscus repair.
Equipment purchases over the past three years also allow the surgeons to
perform more advanced orthopedic surgeries, such as total knee and hip
All surgeries are performed in Humboldt General Hospital’s new surgery
suites using the most minimally invasive techniques available.
The initial three-year contract with Synergy marked the first time orthopedic
surgical services were available in Winnemucca around the clock. Prior
to the HGH-Synergy relationship, out-of-area orthopedists provided some
care to residents locally; however, payer issues with regard to Medicare,
Medicaid and private insurance created difficulties for patients seeking

any insurance that is accepted by HGH.
Humboldt General Hospital’s Orthopedic Clinic is open from 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. An orthopedist is on call 24 hours
a day, seven days a week for emergency surgical care.
