Humboldt General Celebrates ER Grand Opening with 'Emergency Fun Fair'

The community is invited to help celebrate the completion of Humboldt General Hospital’s new Emergency Department.

The HGH ER, HGH EMS Rescue and HGH AirOne will host the 2018 “Emergency Fun Fair” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 24, in the HGH Sarah Winnemucca Conference Room, located in the hospital’s main lobby area.

The fair will include information about heart attacks, stroke, sepsis, influenza, childhood illnesses, ER triage, Assembly Bill 474, HGH AirOne, hands-only CPR, advance directives, the GroundGold membership program, teaching kids to dial 9-1-1, and choosing between the ER and the Walk-In Clinic.

Plus, fair goers will enjoy ambulance tours, free giveaways, a brownie and milk bar, 5x7 photos with Huggy the Heart, and a stuffed animal bandage station (kids, be sure to bring your special stuffed buddy for that one!).

Everyone who comes will also be entered into a drawing for a brand new Fitbit Charge 2. The drawing will take place on Wednesday, February 28. Children under 18 can participate with parent or guardian consent. But if a youth under 18 wins, a parent or guardian must claim the prize on his or her behalf.

The fair is free of charge and all ages are welcome. For more information, please call HGH Director of Community Education and Development Nicole Maher at (775) 761-2624.
