May 15, volunteers from the Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary were honored for
their service during an awards banquet at the Winnemucca Convention Center.
In all, Auxiliary members were recognized for donating 13,117 volunteer
hours to the organization during 2017-2018, either through service at
the Poke & Peek Thrift Shop (the group’s primary source of income)
or through inservice hours at Humboldt General Hospital, special project
hours or meeting hours.
Following a delicious dinner and remarks by Winnemucca Mayor Di An Putnam,
members were individually honored for hitting new milestones, including:
Roseann Langevin, Larry Patchett and Desiree Solomine – 100-hour
pin; Andrew Fiske, Dorothy Kracaw and Pam Schubert – 500-hour pin;
Teresa Estrada, Rita Kulsey and Pansy Northrup – 1,000-hour pin;
Judy Adams, Alicia Cramer and Susan Glenn – 3,000-hour pin; Joy
Dahlka – 4,000-hour pin; Maggie Williams – 8,000-hour pin;
and, Dorothy Fiske – 18,000-hour pin.
Eight members were honored with certificates of appreciation for their
donated hours over this past year, including Ben Cramer (50), Sandra Deveny
(52), Geraldine Hunt (46), Vivian Leyva (90), Marette Nagel (62), Anju
Rai (33), Rutheva Victor (18) and Melany Johnson (22).
Additionally, the group honored Susan Harrer, the Auxiliary’s current
recording secretary, as an “Honorary Life Member.” Awards
Committee Chair Maggie Williams recognized Harrer for work in many areas
of the organization, including her untiring dedication and care toward
the Poke & Peek Thrift Shop, which provides the all-volunteer group
with its revenue.
Current officers include Judy Adams, president; Susan Rorex, vice president;
Joy Dahlka, corresponding secretary; Susan Harrer, recording secretary;
Inez Davis, parliamentarian; and Alicia Cramer, treasurer.
Since 1968, the Auxiliary has donated 430,597 hours and more than $2.5
million to the hospital.
