Humboldt General Hospital's Nalivka Named to Nevada Nutrition Board

The Nevada Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has a new secretary from Winnemucca.

Humboldt General Hospital Director of Food and Nutrition Services Tiffani Nalivka was recently named the new secretary of NvAND during the group’s annual conference in Reno.

Nalivka, who joined the HGH staff seven years ago, hopes to use her new position to increase awareness of her profession and its benefits throughout Nevada, especially in rural areas like Humboldt County.

“I’m excited for the opportunity,” she said. “I’m hoping to help empower our organization’s members to be Nevada’s food and nutrition leaders and help optimize the health of all residents through our food and nutrition expertise.”

The Nevada Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics was founded in 1951 as a professional, not-for-profit organization of food and nutrition experts affiliated with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The group’s 450 members are Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs), Registered Dietitians (RDs), Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs), nutrition students and interns.

Nalivka is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, a Licensed Dietitian and a Certified Health Coach. In addition to managing the dietary and nutrition services departments at the hospital, Nalivka assesses and meets patients’ and residents’ nutritional needs.

Under her direction, Humboldt General Hospital, has also achieved accreditation through the American Association of Diabetes Educators for its “Living Well with Diabetes” program, a comprehensive educational effort aimed at helping people with diabetes gain knowledge and skills to modify their lifestyle and behaviors for maximum health.

Nalivka will assume her new position as secretary of the Nevada Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in June; she will serve for a two-year term. Previously, Nalivka was the group’s nominating chair.
