Dr. Len Perkinson Resigns from Humboldt General Hospital

Dr. Leonard Perkinson has resigned his position as a Family Practice OB physician at Humboldt General Hospital.

Dr. Perkinson also has been relieved of his duties as chief of Humboldt General Hospital’s medical staff.

Following a brief closed session at the Monday, March 4, special meeting of the board, trustees unanimously agreed to accept Dr. Perkinson’s resignation, which he submitted Sunday, March 3.

All trustees were present; however, board member Jennifer Hood recused herself from the discussion and vote.

Dr. Perkinson first came to Winnemucca in 2012; in 2015, trustees renewed his contract for an additional five years, until 2020.

CEO Cole said the hospital remains committed to providing exceptional maternity and pediatric care.

Dr. Roger Brecheen, a board-certified OB/GYN, has signed an 18-month contract to provide obstetrical and gynecological services at Humboldt General Hospital.

According to CEO Cole, the doctor has more than 30 years of experience in caring for and delivering maternity patients.

“He brings a wealth of experience to this position,” she said. “Our soon-to-be-moms can rest assured they will be in good hands.”

Additionally, Dr. Brecheen offers complete gynecological services to area women, including family planning, urogynecology, fertility and menopause care. He also specializes in minimally invasive gynecological surgery.

The hospital also has arranged for pediatricians to care for newborn babies in the nursery and children up to age 18.

Patients may schedule appointments with Dr. Brecheen or the HGH Pediatric Clinic by calling (775) 625-8516.

To access Dr. Brecheen’s office, patients should park in the HGH parking garage and take the elevator to the second floor.

To access the HGH Pediatric Clinic, patients should park in the main hospital parking lot; Suite A is the clinic closest to the main admit desk.
