Janie Bright, PharmD, does not regret her decision to move to Winnemucca one bit.
The new staff pharmacist at Humboldt General Hospital says she saw some
wonderful opportunities in pharmacy here. Perhaps even more important,
she was excited to move to a small community where daughters Kallie (8)
and Brielle (5) can grow up.
“Since we have moved to Winnemucca, this community has been so welcoming,”
said Dr. Bright. “From the schools to everyone here at HGH, I am
so grateful and excited for this opportunity.”
Dr. Bright is no stranger to small towns. She grew up in Malad City, Idaho,
on a farm where her family raised sheep and cattle. She attended college
at Idaho State University in Pocatello, earning both a bachelor’s
degree in biology and her Doctor of Pharmacy.
That’s also where she met her husband—Cody Bright, PharmD,
BCIDP—who joined the hospital’s staff in May 2019.
Cody Bright recently passed the National Infectious Disease Exam and is
now board certified in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy. Janie Bright is currently
studying for her board certification in Pharmacotherapy; ultimately, she
would like to obtain a second board certification in Geriatrics.
Dr. Bright said her grandfather challenged her to go to pharmacy school.
Both her cousin and his wife are pharmacists. “After speaking with
and shadowing them, I decided pharmacy was the right fit for me because
it is always busy and challenging.”
HGH Pharmacy Director Simsek said he couldn’t believe his luck to
recruit Janie Bright to Humboldt General Hospital on the heels of her husband.
“She brings amazing knowledge and experience to our team, and with
her continuing training, we know her knowledge and experience will just
continue to grow and benefit our patients and staff.”
Director Simsek continued, “We are very grateful for Dr. Bright’s
decision to come to Winnemucca and we have every confidence this will
be a great and fulfilling relationship for both her and the hospital.”
In addition to Director Simsek and Dr. Bright, Dr. Robert Hall and Dr.
Cody Bright also serve as staff pharmacists for Humboldt General Hospital.
During her off hours, Dr. Bright and her family enjoy camping, fishing
and visiting Disney World. “We are excited to raise our kids in
a small town,” she said.
