Emergency services personnel from across the state are invited to Winnemucca
to complete their continuing education requirements.
Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services Rescue will offer
its “2020 Annual EMS Refresher” from Friday, November 6, through
Sunday, November 8, at the East Hall Winnemucca Convention Center. A pre-conference
BLS CPR course will also be offered from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 5.
According to HGH EMS Rescue Education Coordinator Johnathen Prichard, this
year’s program will offer classroom and on-site instruction for
a well-rounded student experience.
“We’ve offered this 24-hour refresher course since 2003,”
said Prichard, “and each year we step it up even more to give our
participants the best information possible as they move into the new year.”
Prichard said personnel from every aspect of emergency services are invited
to attend, including representatives from the medical, fire, law enforcement
and mining fields. “We’ve got something for everyone,” he said.
This year’s program is divided into information specific to Advanced
EMTs, EMTs and EMRs and will include classroom instruction as well as
hands-on field work and skills review. Participants are reminded to dress
for the terrain and the weather.
The weekend’s courses will be taught by representatives from HGH
EMS Rescue and regional emergency services agencies.
“Each year we are focused on making our annual refresher a place
where EMS providers can access the latest information and network with
other EMS agencies from across the state,” said Prichard.
He added, “We are excited for this year’s program and know
that each participant will go away more prepared to help those in need.”
Cost for AEMTs is $250, EMTs $200 and EMRs $150; registration fees include
all meals. Participants are strongly encouraged to register as soon as
possible; final deadline for registration is October 25, 2020.
