Beginning January 1, 2018, Nevada law strictly limits how Nevada doctors
prescribe pain pills. This will affect the treatment that patients receive
in both Humboldt General Hospital’s health clinics and hospital
departments.
Health Clinics, Surgical Services, OB. Humboldt General Hospital’s healthcare providers will not treat
your pain without first looking at the state database that provides a
list of all the other medicine you have received in the last year. In
many cases it is dangerous to your health to treat your pain with opioid
medication and a non-opioid will be prescribed instead if you need help
with chronic pain.
Emergency Department. Humboldt General Hospital’s healthcare providers will not treat
your pain without first looking at the state database that provides a
list of all the other medicine you have received in the last year. If
needed upon your discharge from the HGH Emergency Department, opioid pain
medication will be provided at the minimum amount needed to control pain.
HGH’s Emergency Department healthcare providers will not fill pain
pill prescriptions or replace lost medications. Emergency Department providers
will refer you back to your own healthcare provider if you need a prescription
filled or written.
