Lab tests are an important part of your healthcare. You may need them as part of a checkup. Or your doctor may order a lab test to help rule out, diagnose or manage a health condition.
At Humboldt General Hospital, we provide comprehensive laboratory services close to home. In most cases, you don’t even need an appointment to get a test.
Here are a few of the reasons we believe our hospital is your best choice for lab-testing services.
We perform more than 100 different lab tests, including routine and specialty tests.
Our specialty testing services include microbiology, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and blood banking.
We have the lab testing expertise and equipment you need
Our competent staff and state-of-the-art equipment help ensure the accuracy of your test results.
The lab is licensed by the state Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance and is certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Our team includes:
- Phlebotomists who will draw your blood.
- Medical laboratory scientists who will perform your lab test.
- Pathologists who will review your test results.
We process many of our tests in-house. We send some specialized tests to national reference labs for processing. In 2022, we will partner with the prestigious Mayo Clinic for our specialty reference lab services.
We are a walk-in lab with weekend hours
Please remember that you may need to fast for 8 to 12 hours before a lab draw. Your doctor can tell you how to prepare for a lab test. You can also call our lab for more information.
The lab is centrally located near the admitting desk of our hospital with easy, main-floor access.
Our hours are:
- Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Every Friday, we offer routine lab tests at a reduced cost
A physician's order is typically required for any lab test. The exception is our Healthy You Friday specials.
Every Friday from 7:30 a.m. to noon, we offer routine lab tests at a reduced rate. No appointment is needed. For $55, you can get a comprehensive metabolic panel, a cholesterol lipid panel, a complete blood count, an A1C blood sugar test and a thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) test. A prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test is available to men 55 and over for an additional $10.
We do not bill insurance for these tests. Cash, check, and credit or debit cards are accepted.
