Childbirth education

Humboldt General Hospital hosts a Childbirth Education course designed to help mothers-to-be achieve the kind of birth they desire. Women in their fifth to eighth month of pregnancy are encouraged to attend. Childbirth education instructor Becky Egbert will lead the discussion. Mothers and coaches are encouraged to bring a couple of pillows and wear comfortable clothing for the instruction. Lunch and snacks are provided by HGH. Due to the importance of this course, there is no fee to participate. Optional Lactation and Newborn Care classes are also available.

Lactation classes

Learn from our lactation educator, Becky Egbert, about the natural process of breastfeeding, lactation, physiology of the breast, positioning, identification of infant feeding cues, nutrition, and storage of breast milk. Please bring a doll or stuffed animal. Due to the importance of this course, there is no fee to participate. Please call to preregister at 775.455.5138.

Newborn care classes

Join childbirth education instructor Becky Egbert as she discusses what to do after the baby is born. This class will cover feeding, sleeping, diapering, circumcision and umbilical cord care, bathing, and dressing. Parents-to-be also will learn about temperament, crying and comforting techniques, behavior states, and newborn communication. Husbands/fathers/coaches are welcome to attend.
