If you need a new hip or knee, you don’t have to travel far to find a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon; the latest technology; and safe, excellent results.
At the Humboldt General Hospital Orthopedic Clinic, we offer hip and knee replacements using Mako™ robotic arm-assisted surgery. In northern Nevada, we are the only hospital outside of Reno that offers this state-of-the-art joint replacement technique.
When you need a hip or knee specialist
Osteoarthritis wear and tear is the most common reason you may need joint replacement surgery. If you’ve tried other treatments, replacing your damaged hip or knee may be the best option to improve your pain and motion.
If you do need a new joint, your surgery will be performed by an experienced, fellowship-trained physician who is board-certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Jeffrey Meter, MD, performs total hip and knee replacements, as well as joint revision surgery.
In addition to replacing joints, we offer nonsurgical and surgical care for most orthopedic-related conditions and injuries.
Benefits of Mako for hip or knee replacement surgery
The Mako system allows our orthopedic surgeon to perform total hip and knee replacements with increased precision and accuracy.
Benefits of Mako include:
Personalized surgery. Before surgery, our team will create a 3-D model of your joint. This allows us to create a personalized surgical plan based on your unique anatomy. During the procedure, our surgeon controls the robotic arm while the robotic system guides the accuracy of the cutting.
Less cutting. Using the Mako system helps our orthopedic surgeon cut less tissue. As a result, your post-surgery pain may be reduced and you may be on your way to healing faster. Most of our patients go home the day of the surgery or the next day.
Longer lasting knee replacements. Because your new knee is accurately aligned, it may feel more stable and last longer than with traditional surgery.
Increased accuracy for hip replacements. Using Mako makes it less likely that one leg will be slightly longer than the other after hip surgery or that the hip implant will dislocate from its socket.
