What is The Walk-In Clinic?

The Walk-In Clinic allows you to see a doctor or nurse practitioner five days a week, without making an appointment. The Walk-In Clinic provides you with the care you need for a variety of minor illnesses and injuries such as cough and colds, flu, sore throat, ear infection, allergies, rashes, urinary tract infections, athletic injuries, and more. We also provide school-, sports- and work-related physicals.

Can I be seen without an appointment?

Of course. Please stop by anytime from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Can I come in if I am having a medical emergency?

In case of emergency, please call 9-1-1 or to go directly to Humboldt General Hospital's Emergency Department.

What type of medical professionals will I see at The Walk-In Clinic?

You will be cared for by a physician or a family nurse practitioner.

I have a family doctor. Can I still use The Walk-In Clinic's services?

Yes. Patients often seek care when their family doctor is not available. After your immediate needs are met, you may return to your own doctor or to The Walk-In Clinic for follow-up care, or you may be referred to a specialist.

What if I need hospital care?

We do not admit patients to the hospital. We encourage you to develop a relationship with a primary care physician who can provide on-going care and, when necessary, admit you to the hospital. If you need to be admitted to the hospital following a visit to The Walk-In Clinic, you will be sent to Humboldt General Hospital's Emergency Department.

Do you offer flu shots?

Yes, with no appointment necessary.

Do you accept insurance?

The Walk-In Clinic is a participating provider in a wide variety of programs. Please check to determine your co-pay and deductible requirements or just ask us to verify coverage when you come in. You also may call us at (775) 625-7000 for more information.

Will my insurance company cover my visit to The Walk-In Clinic?

Most insurance companies do cover visits to our clinic; however, we recommend that you consult your insurance company for more information. Many insurance companies require co-pays, which should be listed on your insurance card. If your co-pay is not listed, our staff will assist you.

Do you accept credit cards and checks?

Yes, we accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, personal checks (ID may be required), and company checks.

Do your personnel speak Spanish?

We have several staff members who speak Spanish and can translate for you if that is your preferred language.

Can I request a copy of my medical records for my current physician?

Yes, you can request a copy of your medical records by filling out and signing the Medical Records Release Form (CFPC to other Physician).

How can I get my medical records from my past or current physician?

You can request your medical records from your past or current physician by filling out and signing Medical Records Release Form (Last Physician to CFPC) and taking the form to your previous physician who should fax your complete medical record to us.

Can you share information about my treatment with my primary care doctor?

Yes, we always forward a copy of your treatment record to your primary care or specialty physician.

Do you provide any imaging or laboratory services?

All imaging and laboratory services are performed on the Humboldt General Hospital campus.

What do I need to bring to the clinic?

Please bring a picture ID, your insurance card (if you will be using insurance), a list of current medications, and the name of your primary care physician. Please be sure to let our staff know of ANY allergies, current medications, and your medical history. All persons under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a legal guardian in order to be seen.

Will it cost me more to go to The Walk-In Clinic than to go to the Emergency Department?

For all non-life-threatening conditions, The Walk-In Clinic should be used. You'll find our prices are substantially less than what you would pay in the Emergency Department.

How long will I have to wait?

We are a walk-in facility and our average wait time is about 15 minutes. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, and depending on the severity of the illness or injury. Please understand that the number of patients coming to our clinic at any particular time varies; therefore, you may have to wait a little longer. We always do our best to make sure you are seen as promptly as possible.

What if I need stitches?

Our physicians can stitch minor cuts.

What if I have a broken bone?

Our physicians can care for mild fractures.

What kinds of patients do you see?

All children, including infants, and adults are welcome any time. We treat medical conditions which require prompt care but are not life-threatening.

Can you do physicals?

We can do physicals for school, sports and work.

What if I'm injured at work?

We treat minor injuries that occur on the job. If it is a medical emergency, employers and patients are encouraged to go directly to Humboldt General Hospital's Emergency Department. We also work with employers to provide drug testing and physicals for their employees. Ask your risk management supervisor or human resources department if you can be treated at The Walk-In Clinic.
